Week Three (June 14-20) of National Safety Month, a time to re-evaluate safety procedures to prevent injuries by reconnecting to safety initiatives, focuses on Holistic Worker Health

Promoting Holistic Worker Health encompasses supporting total worker wellbeing with insights on mental, physical and emotional health.

Wellbeing encompasses good safety measures, supervisory practices and peer-to-peer culture in addition to overall individual health practices. Workers should know and understand that their individual wellbeing supports and contributes to the overall safety of the company (or can detract from it) and companies should endorse and implement practices that enhance or support worker health and wellbeing.

Topics for discussion this week include addiction and substance misuse and ways to get help, getting enough sleep to avoid drowsy driving or machine operation, proper use of head protection, hydration in heat and assault at work or domestic abuse. Ultimately, the better the overall health of the individual worker, the more productive the individual can be.
